Synergistic long-term observations of vertically resolved cloud properties using a novel microwave radiometer/radar for Arctic clouds

The overarching goal of this project is to characterize clouds and cloud processes in detail at AWIPEV on a long–term basis exploiting the synergy of various remote sensing instruments. To this end, the measurements of the 94 GHz cloud radar as well as the 35 GHz cloud radar, the micro rain radar (MRR), the Pluvio, the Parsivel and a novel in-situ sensor for detecting the shape and size distribution of ice and snow particles will be continued. The project SYNCLOUD plays a crucial role within the Transregional Collaborative Research Centre TR172 “ArctiC Amplification (AC)3”.
