The special dynamics of the Arctic boundary layer in the vicinity of glaciers and mountainous orography has been investigated in and close to the settlement of Ny-Ålesund.
This included the measurement of turbulent fluxes over different terrain and the analysis of the BL height and stability under various meteorological conditions. These measurements will come to an end now. The remote sensing instruments microwave radiometer and a wind lidar for monitoring of the boundary layer height will go on as in the years before.
